This season's focus is on Community.  Providing resources to find and build our common unity.  Come on unity!!

1. WiserEath.org

Amazingly comprehensive site featuring the world's largest free and editable international directory of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and socially responsible organizations, as well as the world's most detailed classification of issue areas related to social justice and environmental restoration.

2. WalkScore.com

Find a walkable place to live.

 

 

3. Short  article expounding on how the ultimate goal of the green movement is community.

4. Living-Library.org

 

 

An innovative method used to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices, and promote understanding.

5. Excellent article from Green America on building community with your neighbors by trading home improvement expertise with others while saving money and resources.

6. Timebanks.org

At its most basic level, Time banking is simply about spending an hour doing something for somebody in your community. That hour goes into the Time Bank as a Time Dollar. Then you have a Time dollar to spend on having someone doing something for you. It's a simple idea, but it has powerful ripple effects in building community connections. In addition to keeping an online directory of Time Banks across the US, TimeBanks USA provides a start-up kit, with Time Banking software, for $49 to communities wanting to launch their own.

Idealist is an interactive site where people and organizations can exchange resources and ideas, locate opportunities and supporters, and take steps toward building a world where all people can lead free and dignified lives.

VolunteerMatch is a leader in the nonprofit world dedicated to helping everyone find a great place to volunteer. The organization offers a variety of online services to support a community of nonprofit, volunteer and business leaders committed to civic engagement.

10. Green America's Guide to Fair Trade.

Learn where to find them using our extensive directory of almost 300 Fair Trade businesses and organizations.
